Montreal-based Syrian-Canadian artist “Ram Sleibi” has dropped his debut solo album, ‘I Met a Hummingbird’, merging jazz, Classical, and Arabic music influences into an instrumental exploration of heartbreak, healing and self-discovery. Inspired by personal experience, Sleibi uses the hummingbird as a symbol of lost love. Through seven instrumental tracks, the album navigates various emotions associated with letting go, culminating in acceptance. Featuring vocals, piano, keys, and bass played by Sleibi, the album is notable for its lack of traditional lyrics. Instead, Sleibi utilizes humming to convey emotions, allowing listeners to interpret the music on their own terms. Each song in the album is accompanied by visuals, and a limited-edition booklet with Sleibi’s sketches, poems and musical notes provides additional insight into the creative process and narrative behind the album.
